Endodontics

Endodontics or Root Canal Therapy is commonly known as one of the most feared and unpleasant of dental treatments.  It is also one of the most treatable problems that can be found within the mouth.

Root canal treatment is a process that involves the removal of the inner layer of ‘pulp’ from within the tooth, which has become infected by the bacteria and disease, present within the mouth. The pulp provides nourishment to the tooth from your blood vessels. This is also where the nerves are located and also the sensitive tissue.

Infected Root canals can be a very serious issue if not treated.  The infection can easily spread to spaces within the head and neck that could become extremely life-threatening. Therefore, prompt treatment is a MUST.

To help with the efficient cleaning of the root canal space, a small hole is drilled into your tooth so that this cleaning can take place. When this has taken place, the tooth is then re-shaped and the void inside the tooth is then filled to leave a full tooth.
