About Us

Dr. Cook completed the Medical College of Virginia’s Dental School in 2003, where he earned his doctorate of Dental Science degree. Prior to that, he also completed a doctorate program in Neuro Anatomy, also from MCV. Dr. Cook is originally from Richmond. In 2003, Dr. Cook purchased the practice of Dr. Wilson Ames and relocated to Smithfield. He and his wife, Kirstin, have two children Colby and Anna. Dr. Cook is a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and has served two terms as an elected member of the Smithfield Town Council.

Dr. Lee joined our practice in 2021. She graduated from Boston University in 2020.  She resides in Virginia Beach with her fiancé Will and their cat Ophelia. When Dr. Lee isn't at work, she enjoys skiing, golf and pottery. She is an amazing addition to our wonderful team and is always smiling and fun to be around!

Renee was a dental assistant since 2004 and started with us in 2017. Because of Renee's strong leadership qualities, in 2020, she took over the role of office manager for Smithfield Family Dentistry. In 2022, Renee became our General Manager. She is from Virginia Beach and currently resides in Newport News with her husband Clark. She also has a grown daughter, Breanna who lives in Williamsburg.

Auburn joined our practice in 2020.  She brings over 8 years of dental experience to the office.   Her broad knowledge of different dental treatments as well as her extreme attention to detail make her a real asset to our practice! Auburn was brought to Hampton Roads through the military and she is motivated to establish deep roots in the local area. 

In early 2022, Auburn took over the role of Office Manager. She currently resides in Carrolton with her husband Ryan, daughter Shelby and son Kaden.

Michelle joined the practice in 2003. She obtained her Bachelors of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from Old Dominion University in 2003. She was raised in Surry County, where she currently lives with her husband Brian and their two boys, Dawson and Tanner.

Candace joined the practice in 2011. She obtained her Bachelors of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from Old Dominion University in 2011, but had worked as a dental assistant for several years prior to that. Candace is currently a full-time hygienist in our office. She was born and raised in Portsmouth, where she currently lives with her husband Jason and their daughter, Lila and son, Brayson.

Jessica obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene from Old Dominion University in 2012, and then went on to also receive her Master’s degree in Dental Hygiene in 2014. Jessica started working with us part time in 2012 and was also working as a clinical instructor at ODU. In May 2017, Jessica joined our team full time! Jessica was raised in Surry County, and now lives in Suffolk with her husband Kaleb and son Kameron.

In 2007, Ellen joined our practice as a dental assistant.  She left our practice to further her education and graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Dental hygiene in 2011. After living and practicing dental hygiene in Florida for a few years, she decided to return to Virginia.  We were lucky to have her join our practice again as a full-time dental hygienist! Ellen was raised in IOW county and now lives in Surry with her husband Derek and their two children, Paisley and Rhett.

Mary started in the dentistry field in 2016 and joined our team in 2020. Mary decided to become a dental assistant for various reasons but mostly to be a friendly face for people needing dental care. Her calm, sweet demeanor puts patients at ease. Mary was born and raised in the Smithfield community. She currently lives here and is married to her husband Josh. They enjoy being outdoors, especially at the beach, and spending time with their pup 'Willie'.

Lacey joined our practice in 2021 and is an experienced dental assistant. She has been in the dental field since 2014 and is originally from Georgia. She resides in Smithfield with her husband Cary and sons 
Walter and Jack.

Alyssa joined our growing practice in 2021.

Sarah joined our practice in 2021.

Amanda started with our front office team in April 2020. She is the welcoming face everyone sees as they enter the office! Before getting into the dental field, she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the hospital setting. Amanda is originally from Suffolk, where she currently lives with her husband Cody. Outside of work, she enjoys everything country living has to offer, from hunting to playing with her numerous dogs.

Brittainy, a native of Smithfield, joined our front office team in July 2020. She has over 10 years of experience working as a receptionist in the medical field. That, along with her warm and friendly personality, makes her an asset to our staff. Her ties to the military have afforded her the opportunities to live in various parts of the country. Brittainy currently lives in Smithfield with her husband Derreck and their children, Malayasia, Chandler and Chanel. Outside of work, she enjoys skating, reading, and spending time around her home with family.

Becca has been a dental assistant with our practice since 2018 but recently made the move to the front desk as an admin team member. She is the smiling face that greets you as you walk in for your appointment!
